Nymphaea micrantha gefleckt

Nymphaea micrantha gefleckt is a small flowering lily common in calm waters located in West Africa, from Senegal to Cameroon. Although the plant is fairly easy to grow, it is nevertheless very rarely cultivated in aquariums.

Nymphaea micrantha gefleckt has leaves up to 10 cm in diameter. The leaves are light green, with irregularly shaped spots of red-brown color. When flowering, the plant produces blue or white inflorescences. The height of the bush reaches 40 cm. The growth rate is medium.

Plant Nymphaea micrantha gefleckt in the foreground of the aquarium. As it grows, the leaves of the plant reach the water, after which the nymphaea begins to form more and more leaves. Excess leaves can be trimmed to give the bush a compact shape. Given that in acceptable conditions, the bush of Nymphaea macrantha deflecta can reach a fairly large size, plant the plant preferably in a large aquarium.

Water parameters: temperature 23-28° C, hardness dH 2-15°, acidity pH 6,5-8,0.

Lighting should be bright, with an intensity of at least 1 W/l. If possible, it is necessary to allow direct sunlight to fall on the leaves of the plant. Also by regulating the intensity and duration of illumination can affect the formation of floating leaves and their color.

The soil should be sandy, slightly silty. The soil layer should be at least 5 cm. It should be noted that the appearance of Nymphaea micrantha gefleckt depends largely on the nutrient content of the soil. Be careful when feeding the plant with microfertilizers, as it does not tolerate excessive concentrations of trace elements. When initially planting the bush in depleted soil, put a few lumps of clay and peat under the roots.

Reproduction

Breeding nymphaea Nymphaea micrantha gefleckt, multifloral can be daughter bushes, which are formed at the base of the mother bush. After separation from the mother bush, the daughter branch is planted in the ground in a new place and relatively quickly the young shoot takes root and begins to grow.

It is possible to reproduce the plant and seeds, for which give the opportunity to form as many floating leaves as possible, after which the plant releases numerous flowers after flowering which are formed seeds. Immediately want to warn that the seed method of reproduction does not always give positive results and a more reliable way of reproduction is still daughter bushes.
