Boraras Micros

Boraras Micros naturally inhabits densely vegetated wetlands and rice paddies located in the eastern part of Thailand. In general, the fish is undemanding and its content is possible even for beginners.

Boraras Micros

Boraras Micros is a very small and generally unremarkable fish. Its body is translucent with three dark spots - one located in the central part of the body, a second at the root of the caudal plumage and a third at the root of the anal fin. Sex differences are weakly expressed. Mature females have a more rounded abdomen and quite often slightly larger than males. The maximum size of fish is 10-13 mm.

Boraras Micros - a peaceful fish, which almost no one will not cause discomfort in the aquarium. Moreover, these fish have a timid nature and themselves need protection from more insolent fish. contain tiny rasboras preferably in a species or general aquarium with other species of small fish and shrimp. Keep fish preferably a group of at least 8-10 individuals. Only in a pack of these fish become less fearful. In addition, the males in the pack begin to compete with each other for the attention of females, which in itself is a sight quite interesting.

Despite the fact that rasboras tiny fish are small, they still need free space for swimming. In addition, the dominant males form temporary territories during the spawning period, so a group of fish is desirable to keep in an aquarium with a size of at least 45 x 30 cm. The aquarium around the perimeter should be densely planted with various plants. It is also desirable to place on the surface of the water several bushes of floating plants, which will not only bring the conditions of fish to the natural, but will also serve as a good light filter.

Water parameters: temperature 20-28° C, hardness dH 2-10°, acidity pH 6,0-7,0. Water filtration should not be too powerful, as Boraras Micros come from reservoirs with standing water and do not like strong currents. Fish are susceptible to sudden changes in water parameters, so release them only in a mature aquarium.

The menu of fish in nature are small insects, worms and crustaceans. In aquarium conditions, the tiny rasbora eats a variety of small live and frozen food. Fish eat daphnia, artemia, moths, dry food in the form of flakes and pellets. Feed the fish should be at least 2 times a day.

Reproduction

With the breeding of fish usually does not arise difficulties. Fry with periodically appear in the aquarium even without special measures, but only a small part of them survive. In order to keep their population needs a spawning aquarium of about 10 liters, densely planted with plants. At the bottom you need to place a bush of Javanese moss. Spawning stimulated by lowering the acidity of water pH to 5,0-6,0 and hardness dH to 2-4°.

On spawning planted the largest pair of fish (female with the largest belly and the most active and colorful male). After the female marks the eggs, the producers are removed from the aquarium. The eggs are incubated for about 48 hours.

Boraras Micros

The hatched fry feed on their yolk sac for the first 24 hours, and then they begin to be fed infusoria and after 10 days artemia. The first 2-3 weeks in the aquarium can not change the water, as the fry are very susceptible to a sharp change in its characteristics.
