Montipora Foliosa Orange

Montipora Foliosa Orange is the second most common species of madrepore coral. This coral can be found virtually throughout the Indo-Pacific tropical zone, from the Red Sea all the way to the Marquesas and Hawaiian Islands. There are currently 75 species of this coral. Regardless of size, it makes it easy to establish a Great Barrier Reef in an aquarium, and considering its undemanding nature, it may be the first coral to be introduced in aquariums by beginner aquarists.
Montipora Foliosa Orange, depending on the species and habitat, including in the aquarium, may have a flattened appearance or have a bowl or flower shape.
Given the fact that under natural conditions Montipora Foliosa Orange lives among coral reefs as with clean water, and in calm lagoons, the water which contains small suspended organic particles. By the type of colony of corals data can be judged on the place where they live. So the colony with corals in the form of lettuce leaves observed among the coral reefs in shallow, calm water. In relatively shallow areas montipora foliosa have a smooth surface, but in the surf they take on a spiral shape.
When placing these corals in the aquarium, we must take into account that they are virtually non-aggressive and are not capable of fighting for survival and living space with other invertebrates. Montipora is compatible with most marine fish species. However, be careful when keeping them with angelfish, which tend to feed on hard corals.
Although Montypora foliosa orange can grow in medium light intensity, bright light is preferable. Preferably, metal halide light bulbs should be used as illumination, which besides high brightness emit a luminous flux as close as possible to sunlight.
In addition, the aquarium should create a strong current of water, for example, using a water pump. As with other corals, stable water parameters are the key to success. To optimize growth of montipora, in the short to medium term, it is advisable to add calcium and magnesium supplements to the water, so the corals will begin to rapidly develop and enjoy their bright coloration.
Montypora foliosa feeds mainly on symbiotic algae, bacteria, phytoplankton and specialized coral food, which can be purchased at pet stores.
