Echinodorus green panda

Echinodorus green panda is a color variation of Echinodorus cordifolius. In general, the plant is not difficult to keep and is recommended to aquarists with some experience in caring for freshwater aquariums.

Echinodorus green panda is a medium bush height of which reaches 40 cm. Leaves are broad, heart-shaped, with pointed tips. On the leaf plate is clearly distinguished veins. This plant is distinguished from other Echinodorus so that very often on the leaf plate appears discolored areas with varying size and shape. And there is no pattern to it. Adult shrubs can be completely without discolored spots on their leaves, but the daughter bushes will be entirely full of them. The explanation for this is seen in the infection of the bush with the so called mosaic virus, which occurs more or less often on different bushes. The plant can take different shapes, which, along with the unusual coloring of its leaves, can give the interior design of the aquarium a unique and somewhat fabulous look.

Plant Echinodorus green panda bushes are recommended in the middle part of the aquarium. In smaller aquariums the plant can be planted in the foreground to visually make the inner space seem larger. In the case of growing other plants next to this shrub, then you should select only the species that are undemanding to the light, such as Echinodorus tenellus, Anubias barteri var. nana "Petite", etc.).

Water parameters: 22-28° C, hardness dH 4-10°, acidity pH 6,5-7,5. Necessary weekly substitution of 1/5 of the aquarium water with fresh. Under the roots of the plant is desirable to put a few lumps of clay. CO2 feeding the plant does not need.

Lighting is undemanding, but the intensity should be at least 0.3 W / L. Duration of the daylight hours is about 10 hours a day. It should be noted that the bushes of Echinodorus green panda, compared to other echinodorus species, do not stretch to the light and keep their shape.

Reproduction

Echinodorus green panda is propagated by its daughter offshoots, which are formed on a flower stalk. After the daughter bushes form a root system, they are carefully separated from the flower stalk and planted in the ground in a new place. If an adult plant produces several flower stalks at once, it is better to cut off the excess flower stalks at once, leaving only one of them to obtain healthy daughter plants.
