The fish are easy to care for and can be kept even by beginners. The wild forms of Apistogramma hongsloi are not as colorful and are rather rarely imported. It is desirable to use coarse river sand as a substrate. At the bottom can be placed snags, and the perimeter of the aquarium to plant shade-loving plants. Reproduction

Breeding fish can be in a common tank, where the permanent fish live, but given that the male during the spawning period becomes very aggressive, it is better manufacturers to transplant into the spawning tank, where fish will feel much more calm.

During spawning, the female spawns eggs on the walls of snags or a hole in the ground among the thickets of plants. After fertilization of eggs by the male, the female remains to protect the clutch, and later begins to take care of fry. Once the female spawns, the male should be removed to another aquarium.

The fry are fed live dust, and after 1-1.5 weeks begin to give artemium.
