Placidochromis milomo

A relatively peaceful fish species that blends well with the larger Lake Malawi community. They should not be kept in conjunction with mbuna or small cichlids, which are sure to feel uncomfortable around such large fish. The fish lead a secretive, secluded lifestyle and between males sometimes clashes arise. Therefore, if the aquarium is not very large, it is necessary to contain no more than one male. Most of the time the fish spend at the bottom.

To keep fish suitably aquarium of 250 liters. preferably contain a small group of fish, consisting of 1 male and 2 females. The aquarium should be placed rock formations with caves and crevices, which could swim fish, given its fairly large size. As the ground is preferably used coarse-grained river sand. Care must be taken to have an open area for the fish to swim freely.

Reproduction

Its sexual maturity Placidochromis Milomo reaches the age of one year.

Breeding fish is possible, but quite difficult. For best results breed Platsidohromis Milomo preferably in a species aquarium, where there will be no extraneous fish.

During the spawning period the male chooses a place, either on a flat surface of the stone, or by digging a recess in the substrate and every way begins to attract the female to him. At this time, the coloration of the male becomes extremely contrasting. The female swims up to the spawning area and spawns on it. Once the male will fertilize the eggs the female collects it all to her mouth, where it incubates for about 3 weeks. All this time the female does not feed. During this time you need to be careful not to disturb her, because if frightened the female may spit out her entire brood.
