Rasbora dorsinotata

Rasbora dorsinotata live in the Mekong River basin in northern Thailand and Laos. The fish can be found in shallow channels with clear water. This species is rarely seen in aquarists' collections, which is primarily due to its unassuming appearance compared to other fish of its family. In general, this fish is unpretentious and can be recommended to beginner aquarists.

The colour Rasbora dorsinotata pale beige with a longitudinal dark stripe running along the body. The fins are translucent. Sexually mature females noticeably rounded abdomen, in addition, they are slightly larger than males. The maximum size of fish reaches 4.3 cm.

Rasbora dorsinotata fish are peaceful and should be kept in a common aquarium with the same peace-loving fish. Roachfish - gregarious fish, so it is recommended that they contain a group of at least 6 individuals. In this case, the fish will be less fearful, and their coloration will be more intense.

Water parameters: temperature 20-25° C, hardness dH 2-12°, pH 6.0-7.5. Pisces absolutely do not tolerate organic contamination of water, so care should be taken to ensure the presence of quality filtration and aeration. The aquarium should also create a small stream of water by installing a pump or by directing the diversion nozzle water filter along the long wall of the aquarium. need a weekly change of ½ of the aquarium water with fresh.

The Rasbora dorsinotata feeds on various invertebrates and small insects in the natural environment. In aquarium conditions, fish are fed live and frozen daphnii, bloodworms, proboscis, flaky dry food. Feed 2 times a day.

Reproduction

Under acceptable conditions, Rasbora dorsinotata often spawn in a common aquarium and for this no measures to produce. Females hatch eggs in the water column, and the males immediately fertilize it. During and after spawning, producers do not mind to eat their eggs, so the percentage of survival of fry in these conditions is minimal.

In order to keep future fry for breeding these fish need to use a specially designed for this purpose spawning aquarium, a volume of about 20 liters. Once the females begin to spawn, you must collect all the eggs and place them in the spawning tank, where eggs and future fry will be fully protected from the encroachment of adult fish to be eaten.

The eggs incubate for 18-48 hours, depending on the water temperature. The fry are sedentary for the first 24 hours, after which they begin to swim and feed.

The fry are fed with infusoria and artemia 3-4 times a day.

The life span of the Rasbora dorsinotata in aquarium conditions is about 3-4 years.
